Day 23 of the 40-Day Challenge

In the name of Allah, most gracious and most merciful,

1. Only One Thing to Mention Today

This post will be very small since I only want to mention one thing that will summarize my day today. It is the power of understanding one’s self and what works for you. When you eat a certain food or do a specific thing do you feel a drop in your energy afterward? What if you didn’t eat breakfast at all and started with your morning routine then directly start working? I won’t give you a blueprint. I know that we all know that sleeping well, eating healthy, and having a good morning routine could help you have a very fruitful day. But the question is: Do you sleep too much? Do you eat unnecessarily because you are used to eating at certain times in the day?

In summary, we have guidelines that we know from science and human experiences. But what about experiencing more with yourself within certain safe ranges and regions and seeing what works best for you. In other words, how to further add flavors to the guidelines and maybe sometimes add or remove from them, and see what happens with you. Experiment and see provided that these experiments aren’t dangerous to your health. You are responsible for how to experiment, and what ranges to experiment with. What is the right amount of sleep? How much food do we really need? I won’t give you explicit answers since I am not a doctor, but my principle is to understand what science says and experiment within safe limits and regions. But I am restressing to be responsible for your health and to take advice about your health from the correct resources.

2. Some useful pieces of advice

Most of these pieces of information are taken from The Magic of Thinking Big book.

  • Develop your power to understand the mind of the people you want to influence. The following exercise will help.
    • Situation: Giving someone work instructions. For better results ask yourself: From the point of view of someone who is new to this, have I made myself clear?
    • Situation: Writing an advertisement. For better results ask yourself: If I were a typical prospective buyer, how will I react to this advertisement?
    • Situation: Telephone manners. For better results ask yourself: If I were the other person, what will I think about my telephone voice in terms and manners?
    • Situation: Gifts. For better results ask yourself: Is this something I will like? Or he will like?
    • Situation: The way I give orders. For better results ask yourself: Would I like to carry orders if they were given to me the way I give them to others?
    • Situation: Child discipline. For better results ask yourself: If I were a child considering his age, experience, and emotions, how will I react to this discipline?
    • Situation: My appearance. For better results ask yourself: What would I think of my superior if he was just like me?
    • Situation: Preparing a speech. For better results ask yourself: Considering the background and the interests of the audience, what would I think of this that I will present?
  • Consider the other person’s situation. Put yourself in his position: his income, intelligence, interests, and background could differ considerably from yours.
  • Now ask yourself, if I were in his situation how would I react to this?
  • Then take the action that will move you if you were the other person provided that this action is good and ethical.

Finally

Thank you. I hope this post has been beneficial to you. I would appreciate any comments if anyone needed more clarifications or if anyone has seen something wrong in what I have written in order to modify it, and I would also appreciate any possible enhancements or suggestions. We are humans, and errors are expected from us, but we could also minimize those errors by learning from our mistakes and by seeking to improve what we do.

Allah bless our master Muhammad and his family.
